Ian and I met under different circumstances than most people meet: we met online. At the time, he was visiting his parents in Oregon. We spent the next few weeks getting to know each other through long conversations and phone calls. I knew right away he was special. We had a first date a few weeks later at my favorite coffee spot (Starbucks, typical me, I know), and it was absolutely the best date ever. We spent a few hours together, just talking. I was very bummed that I had to cut the date short because I had to attend my college classes that evening. From that point on, we just clicked so well and were basically inseparable. A few weeks became months, and eventually years. We are approaching our 5 year anniversary. Ian has taught me so much about myself. I consider every day we've been together to be a blessing. I truly believe he is my soul mate and I couldn't be happier to be his future wife! Our proposal story is quite funny, because I couldn't have been more oblivious. We were celebrating our anniversary early, in Pacific City. We spent quite a few hours at the beach, every day. This particular day was the most time we had spent on the beach that weekend. The first thing I thought was strange about this day was when we walked down to the beach, Ian had pointed out this specific log for us to set up at. I thought it was weird, but paid no attention to it, as we had a handful of things with us. About 20 or so minutes later, after having played in the water, I came back to our little area and had inspected the log a little further. I'm normally a very curious person, and I had noticed that there was something sticking up out of the sand, but chalked it up to trash. Eventually, Ian pushed me to investigate. I was still convinced it was trash until he had grabbed the jar and set it in front of me. I recognized this jar from under our bed but still couldn't piece the 2 instances together. Then, in a little mesh green bag, I found the treasure. OBLIVIOUS MUCH?
