In the fall of 2021, my journey as a student at the University of Maryland began, marking the start of a new chapter in my life. Little did I know that it was also the beginning of a love story that would shape my future. It all started during the first Sunday Service of the school year, when our paths first crossed. That's when I first laid eyes on Ian, the super cool senior president of the Maryland Christian Fellowship (MCF). At that very moment, I started catching feelings for Ian (and if you ask ANY of my friends/family, it was an extremely rare occasion that I even had a crush on someone) As the months passed, I realized that my feelings for Ian were more than just a crush. In November 2021, I mustered the courage to ask him if he'd be free to "hang out." Our first “date” (if you would ever call it that?) was unforgettable! We went to get tacos and ended up talking for hours. At its conclusion, we awkwardly said, "Hey, I think I see you as more than a friend". However, despite our mutual interest in one another, we didn’t think it would be wise to pursue a relationship during that season. That decision weighed heavily on my heart, and the months that followed were filled with tears and heartache. But through that sorrow, God was my source of strength, comfort. and hope. He taught me valuable lessons about patience and the power of waiting on Him with unwavering faith. The verse that stuck out in this season came from Proverbs 16:9 - "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." An entire year passed, each day marked by a longing to be with Ian. Then, in November 2022, after much prayer and reflection, we decided to pursue a dating relationship. Another amazing year went by and finally, on October 29, 2023, he asked the most significant question of all, and my immediate response was a resounding "YES." As I reflect on the past two years of getting to know Ian, I can't help but marvel at Ian's devotion to serving God and others. Our love for one another has increased significantly each day! We are excited about the journey that lies ahead and how the Lord will use our marriage to advance His Kingdom and Majesty. Our love story, with all its twists and turns, has led us to a beautiful destination, and we can't wait to embark on this lifelong adventure together with Jesus at the center.
