We will send these out closer to the date. That'll give you all the information you need for the wedding, but in the meantime feel free to ask us any questions you may have.
Your presence is gift enough but if you would like to give us something, we will be opening up our registry when we send out RSVPs. For this we have different experiences we are hoping to purchase for our honeymoon and a general honeymoon fund. Please no physical gifts as we won't have room to take them back to the UK with us.
Getting to the venue: Uber and Lyft are the rideshare options in Des Moines. We recommend pre-booking the ride out. If you are only 1 or 2 people, please let us know and we can match you with another person or two to share the ride. There are also taxi options available in Des Moines. Getting back to your hotel: We have a bus to bring people back to downtown Des Moines. It will have two journeys, the first around 10 pm and another at 11 pm.
Please avoid wearing white/off-white dresses, jackets or pants/trousers. White button down shirts are fine. This is just to make photography easier. Semiformal or dressy casual. Example attire would be a nice knee or full length dress or a dress shirt and slacks, with or without a suit jacket. It will be WARM as it's August, but we do have air conditioning in the barn. The ceremony will be outside but will be kept short to avoid the heat. Also, feel free to bring a spare pair of comfortable shoes for the evening if you want! We know the pain of dancing in heels/dress shoes with blisters.
We will provide a late lunch after the ceremony and an evening meal so come hungry. If you have any dietary requirements please make sure to let us know. We can make sure something is available for you or specially prepared if necessary.
Iowa is very hot in the summer so we will expect the temperature to be somewhere between 25 - 35 C. But there is always the chance it could be higher than this. There is air conditioning in the barn. Everywhere in Iowa is prepared for these extreme temperatures so you can expect aircon everywhere you go.
Des Moines is the most convenient as it's the closest to the venue/hotels. However, if you feel like driving then there are other airports you can choose from. Kansas City - 3 hours drive Minneapolis - 3.5 hours drive Chicago - 5 hours drive St. Louis - 5.5 hours drive
If you're wondering about what to do for a vacation before or after the wedding, drop us a line. We can tailor our suggestions to your personal preferences.
