Erika and Patrick met attending classes together at Bryn Athyn College. Freshman year was spent in the same classes but not having the guts to talk to each other. Sophomore year brought on more classes as they both began the Early Childhood Education Program. By Junior year they were best of friends. They finally began dating Senior year, 2014. They have successfully navigated ups and downs and are going strong seven years later.

The morning of New Year's Eve found Patrick picking up the ring and contemplating his proposal options. Luckily after spending an hour working in Erika's classroom, she provided him with the perfect opportunity: she wanted to go on a walk. Bundled up in coats and scarves they headed out for a cold, December walk. On the way home Patrick veered off toward the Oak Arbor Pond gazebo. A bit suspicious, Erika asked what was going on. A very out of breath Patrick replied that he needed to sit down for a moment. Due to his heavy breathing, Erika believed him. Wondering what Patrick was looking at over her shoulder, Erika turned around and as she turned back to face him found him on one knee. She of course said 'yes'.
