It was a Sunday that started how all of our Sundays do. We woke up early, went to church and planned to go to Lake City for lunch afterwards. I had been wanting Chipotle which Jake is not really a fan of but he promised me that we would go after church so I was looking forward to it! Church ended and we headed to Lake City for lunch and still, everything was very normal. We went inside, ordered, sat and enjoyed our food and then got ready to leave. As we were walking out of the restaurant, I get a call from Brittney. She had been super excited about a new bakery that was opening in Downtown Lake City and asked if we wanted to join her for a cupcake. If you know me, you know I’ll never turn down a cupcake so, we headed downtown! We get to the corner of the street where Brittney is waiting and I hop out for Jake to go park the truck, or at least that’s what I thought he was doing. We begin walking down the sidewalk and as soon as we get in front of The Blanche, Brittney begins typing in the code to the front door. I begin thinking to myself, “the bakery isn’t in here” “how does she even know that code?” There were so many things running through my head but I truly still had no idea what was about to happen! She opens the door and sends me inside and I immediately start hearing the “click” of a camera. I look around to spot one of my best friends who had hidden to capture these special moments for us. As I continue to walk forward, I begin to see lots of photos and flowers and my eyes immediately start to fill up with tears. There were photos of so many of our milestones like our first date, family vacations, birthday trips and so many other adventures. I follow the photos and finally arrive to the last one that said, “it’s always been you.” At this point, I’m crying happy tears and trying to take everything in. On one knee, with shaky hands, Jake asks me to marry him and I without hesitation say YES! We then followed Brittney into our original destination, the bakery, where many of our close friends were waiting to celebrate with us. Truly a day we will never forget!
