We met at Ground Round Bar and Grill in Grand Forks while we were both attending the University of North Dakota. Jesse was a manager and I had just started as a server. He trained me in the expo window and we made a pretty great team!

We ventured on road trip to the Black Hills in South Dakota over Memorial Day weekend, I had a pretty good idea that this would be the weekend he was going to pop the question but wasn't totally sure. Friday night we went out to see Deadwood and get dinner and he seemed too calm so I started second guessing whether this would be the weekend or not. Saturday morning we got breakfast and set out to go on an adventure and go hiking in the breathtaking Black Hills. Our first stop was Bridal Veil Falls, little did I know but this was where Jesse had originally planned to propose but hadn't anticipated that the Black Hills would have gotten 3 feet of snow a couple days before so what used to be a small water fall, easy to hike up to, would become rapids and also full of onlooking tourists. I caught on as he started pacing and obviously trying to look for a place to cross. I had to convince him we would probably be swept away if we tried so we ventured on. We hiked for a while and then drove over to Pactola Lake and I was blown away. It was BEAUTIFUL! We walked for a bit and then made an impromptu drive to the Mount Rushmore....? (He was getting a little nervous) we ended up coming back to Pactola Lake, and hiked up some rocks. He suggested we look for rocks (Geology major... of course) as I looked down he said "What about this rock?" held out a gorgeous ring, got down on one knee and popped the question! Of course I immediately said yes. It was the best and most beautiful day that we will never forget.
