Our Proposal Story

3/2/2019

We were in Asheville celebrating our two year anniversary (February 27th), it had been raining the whole time but we woke up Saturday morning and it was sunny! We decided to go for a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. On our way back down we decided to stop at the Wash Creek Valley overlook and take a picture because it was so pretty. We take a picture and Anne Marie goes to get back in the car. Joey says “hey babe,” Anne Marie turns around and he is down on one knee with ring in hand. Of course she said “YES!”

How We Met

Flag Football in Charlotte

We both are avid flag footballers! Today we both play on the Elemonators which funny enough is the way we met over a year before we started dating. We played a whole season together where Joey maybe spoke 5 words to Anne Marie. A year later Joey and Anne Marie both showed up to play Sunday pick up (shout out to Steve Smith for going with Anne Marie otherwise she may not have gone alone) and Joey said the most words ever to Anne Marie in one sentence. After playing on opposing teams and a fabulous block by Anne Marie on the QB (Joey), Anne Marie invited Joey to come out with some friends for a beer at Legion Brewery. A week later we went on our first date to Red Rocks in Birkdale and we’ve been together ever since!

Coronavirus

In March of 2020 we made the decision to postpone our wedding. This decision was extremely difficult for us and disappointing after a year of planning and looking forward to celebrating our union with all of you. We celebrated our old wedding date or our coronaversary on April 24, 2020 with our friends on Moss Lane and looked forward to finally being able to tie the knot this fall. While we hoped the coronavirus would be more under control by now, we are going ahead with our wedding on November 20, 2020. We wish we could celebrate with all of you in person but sometimes you got to just roll with it. We will be holding a smaller ceremony with our bridal party and local friends. We hope that those who can't celebrate in person will be able to join us online. We are thinking of each of you and we hope everyone is staying safe during this pandemic. Looking forward to celebrating with all of you in the future. Coronavirus is temporary but this is just the beginning of a lifetime together.
