There’s an old Irish song that says “goin’ to a weddin’ is the makin’ of another,” and that’s exactly how it happened for Sarah and Brandon. In 2022, Sarah’s best friend Michelle and Brandon’s brother Patrick were planning their wedding. Michelle asked Sarah and Brandon provide ceremony music with Brandon on guitar and Sarah on violin. Being across the country with Sarah in Tennessee and Brandon in Southern California, the first practice they had was in the lobby of the Saguaro hotel. After practicing Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect,” they enjoyed playing together so much they kept playing, with Brandon choosing “Say you won’t let go” by James Arthur. It was then that a slightly inebriated hotel guest mistook them for buskers and gave them four dollars, which they split. Still too hesitant to make a move on the other (Brandon couldn’t believe Sarah was single) they continued to steal glances at the other throughout the day in true Jane Austen style. The wedding was beautiful, and both Brandon and Sarah were thrilled to see people they loved so happy together. At the reception, Sarah kept hoping Brandon would ask her to dance. He did, and she promptly intimidated him by making a lot of eye contact. While he took a break, Patricia, Brandon’s mom, put a bug in Sarah’s ear that Brandon “liked her a lot.” Blushing, Sarah told her friends Pallavi and Deepthi, and in a wingwoman of the year moment, Pallavi scouted out Brandon and asked him to take Sarah to the airport the next morning. Brandon said “yes, there’s just one problem, I like her a lot.” Pallavi assured him that wouldn’t be a problem at all. Brandon came back into the ballroom, offered his hand, Sarah took it with a smile, and he swept her onto the dance floor and off her feet. (Brandon is an excellent dancer, Sarah, on the other hand, is just really good at following). The next morning, the couple spent the two hour ride to LAX getting to know each other. Minutes after dropping her off, Brandon called Sarah and asked her out to dinner next time she was in CA. She gave an enthusiastic yes. On the plane ride back, Sarah’s sister Abby began to tease her about “her future husband” and a week later, Sarah told Abby she was pretty sure she had met her husband, and she was wonderfully, happily, right. Sarah and Brandon were long distance until October 2023, when they finally closed the gap, got married in a small ceremony in Redlands, CA, and Brandon moved to Tennessee. This is technically their second wedding, hence the hashtag, “second breakfast” (and in reference to their shared love of Lord of the Rings). They are so excited to celebrate with all their friends and family in this long expected party.
