Our Story

From 'Shut Up' to I Do

Love stories are great and all, but I firmly believe ours deserves its own...something. Flashback to January 2020, Morgan decided to attend a Sigma Pi fraternity day party that was called the "Great American Challenge." Do yourself a favor and don't look it up. During this "lovely" party, Morgan spotted a man who had long brown hair and a red bandana around his neck. She looked over to her friend Maya and whispered, "Is that David Dobrik?" They were shocked about how similar they looked, but they never told him. Fast forward to February 2020. The setting: the infamous Creekside Apartments. The vibe: classic college chaos. Morgan and her friends were winding down when a few Sigma Pi guys walked in. Enter Hunter—the man, the myth, the bandana guy. Morgan’s eyes lit up. She shot up from her seat and declared, “OMG guys, it’s David Dobrik!” The lovely, kind, and of course sober Hunter looks at her and says, "Shut up!" Shocker right? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, those were Hunter’s first words to Morgan. Swoon. Just three days into officially dating, the world shut down thanks to a global pandemic. So, while most couples start with awkward first dates, Morgan and Hunter built pillow forts, panic-ordered takeout, and rationed toilet paper. Hunter would make late-night runs just to surprise Morgan with Hot Cheeto Puffs—her ultimate comfort snack—and the two spent countless evenings curled up in their tiny pandemic nest, watching Outer Banks and finding peace in each other. When Hunter first met Morgan, he was struggling to adjust to college life in Chico. Everything felt unfamiliar, until she came along. She didn’t just help him settle in; she made Chico feel like home. With her silly (sometimes downright stupid) jokes that always managed to make him laugh, and that knowing smirk she flashes when she realizes he’s right, Morgan brought light, laughter, and comfort into his world. She became his support system, his biggest cheerleader, and the reason he found the courage to embrace new adventures. Morgan quickly realized that Hunter wasn’t just the guy with the bandana—he was her calm in the chaos. Through every challenge—quarantines, Zoom classes, hospital visits (yes, she had to take him once), and even the time he accidentally flooded her apartment two months into dating—Hunter was steady, kind, and quietly heroic. He kept her grounded. He made her laugh when things felt heavy. He made her feel safe when the world went upside down. They graduated College together, walked across the stage, and soon after packed up their lives and moved to Austin, Texas for a new adventure. And on May 31st, 2025, on a breathtaking day at Lake Tahoe’s Emerald Bay, Hunter got down on one knee and asked Morgan to marry him. She said yes—because there’s no one else she'd rather build forts with forever.
