It all began in college, in an “Assertiveness” class of all places. During an exercise about personal space, the teacher called on both of us to test our comfort levels with closeness. To everyone’s surprise (including ours!), we seemed perfectly at ease standing near each other — so much so that the teacher asked why. We both blushed, laughed, and didn’t realize it then, but something special had just begun. A few months later, Mikayla asked Hunter out to a Tech N9ne concert, and from that moment on, life has never been quite the same. Hunter said “I love you” first — just two months into dating — and we both knew this was it. Since officially becoming “us” on May 4, 2016, we’ve shared countless memories: moving in together in 2017, exploring Ireland in 2018, building a beautiful life surrounded by our closest friends, and most recently welcoming our two kittens, Bean and Oly. In May 2025, Hunter got down on one knee and asked the easiest question Mikayla has ever answered. Now, surrounded by the same amazing group of friends and family who’ve been with us from the start, we can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter of our story — together.
