Hunter and I met back in 2006 at Evans, where we attended middle school. I was new to the school and it didn't take long for me to notice Hunter. We were both quiet, so we didn't talk much throughout middle school, but when we reached highschool we became better friends. We attended football games together and were able to connect with our similar sense of humor. He thought I was completely WEIRD, but in a good way apparently. Hunter admitted to having a crush on me throughout high school but since I always had a boyfriend, he never admitted it to me. Hunter asked me to prom in 2011, as what I assumed to be "as friends." Not thinking anything of it, I made him get on one knee to "Prom-pose" to me, just to be funny and embarrass him. HE DID IT! I laughed and said yes! Little did I know, he asked me to prom in hopes to be more than friends. I ended up dating someone else and ruining that plan...Lol, sorry Hunter. We ended up staying each other’s dates and having a blast as friends. We stayed friends after graduation and never anything more. Fast forward to 2017, Hunter had been away serving in the Marines. I received a few phone calls and friendly letters in the mail with updates on his life. One letter I was not expecting. It was a long- expressing the feelings he has always had for me. I was completely shocked and in disbelief. I didn't think I felt the same way and panicked! He has always been strictly my friend. After lots of thought and advice, I agreed to meet up for dinner when he got home. Usually I would have thrown on a T-shirt and not cared anything about it. I was NERVOUS!? We went to Waffle House (romantic I know) and talked. We were both as awkward as could be but something happened... I agreed to another "date" (weird) and this time he (as awkwardly as possible) kissed me. I about ran over his foot driving away, but that was all it took for me to know I loved him. We both knew that we were the ones God made for each other.
Hunter and I had been together a little over three and a half years when we planned a litte vacation to Colorado. We had no plans, we just wanted to get away, explore the state, and enjoy each other. On day three, November 25th, we decided to find a mountain to hike, St. Marys Glacier. But first, donuts! We ate Voodoo donuts that morning then grabbed a few beers to take with us to cheers at the top of the mountain. It had snowed the day before, A LOT! So we didnt really know what we were in for hiking up this steep mountain. After multiple falls, snow whipping in our face, and almost sliding on an ice patch off of a cliff...(omg) We made it! Well, pretty much. We found a flat spot behind a big rock and cheersed our Moose beers! Hunter then gets up and asks me if I want my picture taken on top of the rock. Honestly, I didnt care for a picture because I was that cold, but I didnt turn it down. After I got myself situated on top of the rock, I look at the camera and see him down on his knee asking me to marry him! I am pretty sure I blacked out because I was in such shock. I said yes to the question I had been dreaming about for years! To this day I am still not sure how he pulled that off without me even having a clue. Through airport security and all!
