Hunter is from Southern Pines and Coral is originally from San Diego, so how did these two cross paths? Coral and her family moved to the Southern Pines area when she was beginning her high school years and although Hunter was attending a different high school than her, they shared a lot of the same friends. Throughout high school and into college they thought of each other as acquaintances, little did they know, 10 years later, they would reconnect , at where else, but a friend's wedding. Now, at this time Hunter was living in Raleigh and Coral was in Wilmington, a good 2 hours apart. So after a few bottles of bubbly at the wedding they figured this would be a nothing but a fling. However, a year of casual dating and talking on the phone, they finally made it official and continued the next few years long distance until Coral made the move to Raleigh. Obviously it didn't take much longer for Hunter to finally realize, after 5 years, what a good thing he had and he needed to make it permanent. So here we are! Ready to celebrate and start the next exciting chapter.
So now that Hunter has finally decided to put a ring on that finger, how would he do it? Hunter & Coral had a beach weekend in Wilmington but Hunter had an elaborate story planned. After spending the day hanging at the pool, Hunter mentioned that his real estate agent invited them to a 'client appreciation' get together at a house on Wrightsville Beach if they would like to attend. He made sure to even get Daphne, his agent, on speaker phone to make it seem legitimate. Mentioning how he didn't bring anything too fancy to wear (as to not throw Coral off) he made sure to wear his signature nicest vans t-shirt. They rode bikes down the beach to this so called event, when Hunter suggested stopping at the south end of the beach to take in the sunset. What he didn't realize was this same weekend was graduation & mother's day, so the beach was full of people, getting in the way of his intimate moment. The two found a spot further down the beach & Hunter started playing a song from his speaker he brought with him called 'Here goes nothing' . Now, this song is one Coral knew but still didn't understand why he was playing this particular song about engagements and starting a new life together. 'You've heard this song before right?' He asked. 'Um yeahhh' Coral replied, 'Hunter, don't mess with me right now." (.... ahhh, it's about to go down!) 'Yeah, you know what this is about' He said. Ok, by now it has finally clicked with Coral that this is happening as he took one knee with the sun setting beside them. He had planned the whole thing. Their good friend Katie, a photographer, was waiting at the beach to capture the big moment. Two other friends, Stephanie & Jess, were quickly getting a room ready at the Blockade Runner with roses & champagne to surprise her again. A weekend Hunter & Coral will never forget!
