It was February of 2021, the pandemic still in full swing. Erin had just come back from a private duty nurse job and knew that after taking a leave of absence, she was finally ready to leave Denver to start travel nursing. Creighton had been working at Erin’s staff hospital as a travel nurse in Denver, finishing up his second assignment and considering leaving at the end of the month. He was days away from signing a new contract in Oakland, California for a more lucrative opportunity. It was change of shift, and Creighton had been trying to keep a very sick patient on the unit alive all day, feeling as though he hadn’t been able to do enough and with so much charting incomplete. Erin came in to relieve him and with her graceful and calm demeanor took over care while also offering support to this handsome traveler she had never met. Erin comforted Creighton after a stressful shift by asking about his dog, a ski trip vacation that week, and then eventually Erin actually had to start working (even though Creighton wanted to keep talking). Erin’s kindness piqued Creighton’s interest and little did she know he was instantly falling in love with her. She didn’t see him again for a few weeks, and didn’t think much about it, as travel nurses are a fleeting breed. When she did see him again, he was on her unit and working the same shifts suddenly - he ended up re-signing for 8 weeks on the same unit in the SICU. It wasn’t until after one especially stressful shift did Erin approach Creighton and see if he wanted to get a drink after work. He didn’t hesitate; he knew getting a chance to talk outside of work was the first step in his genius plan to get her to fall in love with him too. It worked, they moved in and started travel nursing together 6 months later, after Creighton moved to New England to take an assignment where Erin grew up, spend the holidays with her family, and embark on their future together.
