Once Nicole and Abby figured out how much they had in common (GSD moms), it's been a friendship built to last. Her role as the Groom’s Partner in Crime when it came to planning the surprise engagement is just one of the many examples of why she’s the go-to person for knowing Nicole’s preferences. Example #2, please see ring finger. Also, Nicole served as Abby and Kyle’s unofficial roommate in Ann Arbor, before ultimately finding a new long-term roommate that resided in Royal Oak.

Best Man
He still holds the title as Jeff's longest-tenured roommate, dating all the way back to the early Michigan State days and then extending to Chicago, so Nicole can likely tap into Greg for any tips to drown out snoring. Everyone knew Greg would return the favor by standing directly next Jeff as the Best Man on the wedding day. Expect laughs when Greg has the mic.

The distinct title of Koumbara, but "little Eleni" has played an even bigger role in Nicole's life. Everyone, especially Jeff, should be thanking Eleni and fam as they played a vital role in getting Nicole to leave the warmth of the south for the Mitten state 11+ years ago.

Baby Bro to the Bride, Husband to Bridesmaid Lauren, Dad to Ring Bearer Pierce, a man of many traits. Jeff can look to Stephen for tips on how to put up with Nicole's "stubbornness." Guests may look to him for dance lessons when the band gets going as he was once the star of the Cincinnati Greek Festival. He, alongside Eleni, will be one of the more "Active" participants in the ceremony, so watch closely for the Greek traditions.
Missy Brownell

Older Sister to the Groom, Mom to Flower Girl Hadley and Ring Bearer Hudson. Known to be a "center" similar to her little bro, the real question is if she'll turn back the clock and make it to the afterglow. We can't wait to find out. Little known fact, Missy was so excited to meet Nicole in the early days that she staged a well-known makeup selling scheme meeting just to be able to finally hang out with Jeff’s mysterious love interest. While the above could be fabricated, it might also be very true. Ask Missy for her side of the story.

Brother-in-Law to the groom, Dad to Flower Girl Emme and Ring Bearer Colton. While Andrew may be glad that he gained a golf partner when Jeff moved back to Michigan, he might not have realized how many house projects, said brother in law was going to call him for during his recent home renovation.

Also older Sister/previous landlord (iykyk) to the Groom, Mom to Flower Girl Emme and Ring Bearer Colton. You can imagine how relieved Nicole was early on in her Royal Oak visits to find out that it wasn’t another love interest of Jeff’s that so elegantly decorated his house, but instead, it was Ashleigh and his mom doing all the hard work. Lastly, the DAC has been put on lookout for "Fun Ashleigh". Feel free to inquire about the origins of the nickname, it's a good one.
Jake Alsip

Another case of college friendship expanding into becoming a staple in the Groom's life. The fellow Chicago crew member, Jake has been involved in the large majority, if not all, of the Windy City stories as well as more than a handful of boys trips that typically center around golf. He's Vegas' favorite on the betting board for "life of the party" on the wedding night, but let's see if this new Dad can bring his "A" game come September.

Sister-in-law to the Bride, and Mom to Ring Bearer Pierce. A seasoned veteran when it comes to the “Big Fat Greek Weddings” Jeff will be looking to Lauren for tips on Greek dancing since Nicole has been “less than helpful” in that department. Lauren also holds valuable information on what it’s like being married to a Humbert. She’ll be busy come wedding day not only with Pierce running around but also keeping the newest addition to the family, Collins Humbert born in April away from the dance floor.

From East Lansing to Chicago to Metro Detroit, Bel can't shake the Groom from his rearview mirror and even has him moving closer with the latest home purchase. On top of all that, he's also had to put up with Jeff as a roommate in Chicago. There's clearly something to like about him, find Bel if you need someone to cheers you with a Tequila shot at the DAC.
Kara Brockhaus-Johnson

As most long-lasting friendships do, Nicole and Kara’s dates back to Rick’s American Café. From there it was strengthened through their dog-mom bond, is trusted to help cover a work break now and again as Kara is a fellow surgery pharmacist, but everyone knows it remains unbreakable due to many post-work happy hours (shout-out Erin). Jeff has become well aware that when Nicole mentions happy hour with Kara, it will extend beyond an hour…or two.

He and the Groom ended up in the same basketball gym in 2 key instances. Once at an AAU try-out during their high school glory days, and second during the first semester at Michigan State when they didn't realize both "hung up their sneakers" bypassing college ball. 3 year college roommate. Look for the tall skinny guy with the flowing hair and you've spotted Mr. Kasza.

From friend of a friend (thanks Abby) to Bridesmaid, Nicole and Courtney share a love for rosé, bubbly, and charcuterie boards (Courtney makes the best). While trying to emulate said top-notch charcuteries, Nicole always counts on Courtney for a good laugh, timely wisdom, amazing fashion sense, and home decorating advice.

Another friendship that started on the basketball court at Michigan State, but has extended far beyond it. There was a period in 2013 in the early "Post Grad" days that you could set your watch and know it was the weekend if the Groom was crashing at Knapptime's and fellow Groomsman Cheyne's houses so they could show him the ropes when it comes to adventuring out in Detroit. It was only fitting that he and wife Cristina, did the same thing when Jeff finally moved back from Chicago.

Who says a friendship can’t start with the belief that each other has “RBF” because Nicole and Melani are proof it actually can be the perfect foundation. Once Abby convinced them to get past their initial judgements, the laughter has never stopped. Case in point being a fully packed rental mini-van, perhaps a speeding ticket in NY, a destination of then ghost town of Boston (thanks Covid), and sending Melani off to her fellowship having made a few memories along the way. Not to be forgotten, Melani might be the funniest person Nicole knows.

A friendship that dates all the way back to their early years, thanks to close proximity childhood homes and having to go to all the same sibling events since before they can remember. Things didn't stop there, as they've continued with the memories together all throughout and in multiple locations. Marc has seen it all so odds are he has a story or two about the groom (none of which will Jeff confirm nor deny).

Nicole and Rachel’s story starts by way of Rachel’s Husband, Rob, who doubles as Nicole’s friend and coworker. Adopting Nicole as their third wheel, should be enough to tell you both Rachel and Rob are good ones, but add to it a 2-week backpacking trip through Italy, albeit with only a few mishaps, and they still want to hang out with the Bride. As a fellow Dog Mom, you can count on Rachel to host a doggy play date, which is almost always accompanied by wine night.

Another Michigan State Basketball starting point. Another Post Grad in Detroit Partner in Crime. Another Chicago Roommate (Futons count). Another person that can't shake the groom in Metro Detroit. Not just another friendship, Cheyne has been there for all the things since 2009. The least Jeff (and mostly Ashleigh) could do was help setup the initial courting of his wife Caitlin. Just maybe he'll recreate the "Slow Turn" on the dance floor for old times' sake.
