We met in 2019, but love didn’t quite have us on the radar yet. We were both trying to figure out our futures—and the futures of our then-relationships. In true Cody fashion, after a year of “ghosting” me while he figured out what he wanted, he finally responded to my many attempts to reach him. And in true Sarah fashion, I never give up on something I want. This time around, he was ending his relationship, and I wasn’t quite sure where I stood in mine. As it turns out, we were exactly what the other needed—at exactly the right time. On March 31, 2022, we made it official. I told him then that I wasn’t spending the next ten years waiting for a proposal, that marriage was the only endgame I had in mind. I gave us a two-year timeline: if we didn’t see forever by then, we’d both move on… though I did make it clear I was taking the couch (IT’S A REALLY NICE COUCH). He kept me on edge until the very last moment. On March 23, 2024—eight days to spare—he proposed. And here we are.
