How We Met

August 2013

Ryan and Allison first met in the dairy barn at Alfred State College. Allison's first true memory of Ryan was him laughing at the fact that 12 cows were loose around the barnyard during milking while she and two other employees tried to herd them back to the holding area. After yelling at him to come and help, they began spending more time together with a group of friends.

The Proposal

August 2020

On a Tuesday night, Allison had ridden along with Ryan as he helped with third cutting hay. It was close to sunset, and Allison had asked Ryan to stop the tractor as they came out of the woods so that she could take a picture. Apparently that had gotten Ryan's wheels turning because the next night he was rushing to get them on the hill again to "take pictures of the sunset". It was somewhat out of character of Ryan, but he could be spontaneous and Allison didn't think much of it. It was too late that night and they had missed the sunset, so the next night, with a plan, they headed back up to the same spot to take more pictures. As Allison stepped forward, capturing the scene once again, Ryan had gotten down on one knee behind her. The first words out of her mouth were "are you serious?!" although he was expecting "it's about time..." which are the words out of most everyone else mouth when they hear the news.
