Question

How do I get to Salisbury, CT?

Answer

Please see the Travel tab for flight and train information. We recommend flying into NYC area airports or Bradley Airport near Hartford, CT. If you do choose to fly into NYC, the Harlem Line out of Grand Central Station can bring you about 30 minutes away from downtown Salisbury, CT. One of the biggest things to be mindful of, is that there are no Ubers or many rental car companies available in the area. If you choose to take the train, please be sure to arrange transportation with a local car service or Hugh and myself well in advance.

Question

How do I get to the wedding?

Answer

We are asking guests to drive to Mount Riga from downtown Salisbury. Please be sure to follow the directions below and use the pin provided, as GPS sometimes recommends an alternative route from Massachusetts, that we do not recommend. We will have signs along the route to try to make your travels easier. The Mt Riga road is a narrow, unpaved road, so we definitely recommend carpooling if possible. If you choose to carpool, there is parking available in downtown Salisbury at either the Salisbury Public Library (38 Main St., Salisbury, CT) or on the side of Salisbury Town Hall (at the base of Factory St. on your right). Directions to the base of Mount Riga from Downtown Salisbury: 1. From Main Street turn onto Factory Street 2. Stay right to remain on Factory Street 3. Stay left to remain on Factory Street 4. Bear right for Mt Riga Road and follow signs for Mount Riga 5. Follow Mt Riga Road for approximately 2.8 miles. You have arrived at the parking area on Mount Riga when you see the dam ahead of you. Here, there will be someone directing you on where to park. Once parked, there will be a shuttle to drive you to the ceremony. We recommend arriving here at 4PM in order to allow time to for driving, parking, and getting to the ceremony. Here’s a pin if you want to plug this into your GPS: https://maps.apple.com/?ll=42.005417,-73.468660&q=Dropped%20Pin&_ext=EiYpmvNffx4ARUAx2HfggmFeUsA5GMmF20QBRUBB2N60cZtdUsBQBA%3D%3D&t=m

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is semi-formal garden party. Think mid-length to long summer dresses and slacks with a dress shirt. Jackets are encouraged but optional. While we want everyone to be comfortable, we ask that you please do not wear shorts. The ceremony and party will all be outside on grass, so we definitely encourage comfortable shoes (no stilettos!).

Question

What should I expect for weather?

Answer

The temperature is typically around 80℉ during the day in August in Salisbury, CT. Luckily, the cabin is surrounded by lots of beautiful shady trees. The evenings can sometimes get a bit chilly, so a light pashmina may be nice. Rain is always a possibility, but we’re going to keep our fingers crossed for sunshine!!

Question

Are there things to do in Salisbury?

Answer

We have included some activities in the "Things to Do" tab. Salisbury is a beautiful area filled with plenty of opportunities for hiking! If you need any further recommendations, feel free to reach out. This is one of our favorite places to be and Hugh and I are so excited to share it with you all!
