We met through a mutual friend, Mackenzie Yaba, who is a bridesmaid in our wedding. She is one of my best friends and Ian had worked with her at Tautog's restaurant. I actually had just broken up with my ex-boyfriend of 4 years when Mackenzie invited me to a party at Ian's house not too long after. The party was at Ian's parents house and they did not know about it. His parents were furious, but to this day they say that at least one good thing came from that party, and that was Ian meeting me. We have been inseparable ever since!
While Ian and I were in college, we rented my aunt and uncle's old house in Kempsville. During our time living there we would take our dogs to the Stratford Chase park regularly to run around and play. There was rarely anyone ever there and it was always a spot that we go as a family and spend quality time together (yes, our dogs are like our kids). Being that we were in college and had little to no money at the time, we cherished those little moments a lot because they brought so much happiness to us during those tough times. While deciding where to propose, Ian knew this was the place where we shared so many memories together as a family. He wanted to add the most special one to that list.
