Michael and Laura first matched on a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel. He messaged her first and after a few exchanges, they had their first date at Coffee Rush in Gilbert, AZ. It went so well they continued the evening at Cafe Rio across the street and the rest is history!

Michael and Laura had discussed privately about wanting to get married to one another in the summer of 2019. Michael took Laura ring shopping in October and pretty much everyone knew how Laura was on high alert throughout the entire fall waiting for a proposal. Unbeknownst to Laura, Michael had talked to Laura's father, Jim, in November to ask for his blessing. Laura turned 30 on December 1st, 2019...and no proposal. Christmas came and went...no proposal. Finally, on December 27th, Michael took Laura out to all the places they went for their first date. They had coffee at Coffee Rush. They had lunch at Cafe Rio. Unfortunately, that was the same day of major rain and flooding in Arizona, so Michael's original plans weren't possible. Michael and Laura went back to her apartment to dry off when Michael went into the kitchen and started making random noise. Laura went to investigate and Michael hugged her, talking about how loving and deserving she was, and he goes "That's why I think you should have this." He proposed in Laura's kitchen with Laura crying "What is this!?" and saying yes many times over. Everything was perfect for them.
