How It All Began

We first met in the Guntersville Middle School band--both playing trumpet and as awkward as you might imagine. We remained friendly acquaintances through high school and college. One summer, Dyllon was getting a group of people together to go rock climbing and so I tagged along. We hit it off better than old times and the sparks flew. We continued to spend time together that summer and continued to stay in contact through the following fall semester. By that December, I had had enough of the uncertainty and decided to confront Dyllon about our progression toward what I felt was the inevitable and what he felt was the impossible. Two years and one day later, we hope you will be joining us in celebrating our future together.

The Proposal

Right before I popped the big question to her I was feeling the exact same as the moment we first held each other next to a campfire or the first time I told her I loved her. They were all moments that had to happen, but they were also times of uncertainty. I had not the slightest clue Victoria liked me more than a friend at that campfire night and was only dreaming that she loved me back when I said those three words. However, with that feeling of uncertainty came an extraordinary natural feeling, as if all those moments were already laid out before us to happen. With that, I decided to save every extra dollar I made for a year, and in April of 2017, I bought her engagement ring. I mauled over hours of thought as to how to pop the question, but nothing seemed quite good enough for me, I wanted the perfect moment for her. Then her mom told me about a place in Honeycomb, Al. It was a small patch of land on a hillside with a few waterfalls and a very manicured lawn. I put a picnic basket together, put a GoPro in it, and set a dress out for her. When she opened the basket, her ring was sitting in a small Cinderella carriage tied to the inside roof of the lid. I believe she was surprised! Funny thing is she had a gut feeling it was coming, and even thought I was going to pop the question earlier that day, it was kept very secret but she still knew somehow. I love how every big moment of our relationship has just moved from stone to stone so quickly and naturally. While our relationship is a little more certain now-a-days, I hope the path our stones take us on stays fullfilling and joyous.
