There I was, swiping left and right through the five whole people in South Dakota when Joe’s picture popped up. I paused for a second — my roster was looking a little dry — and thought, why not? Little did I know that one swipe would open the door to a million new experiences (and a lifetime supply of patience) with my best friend. It all started slow — over questionable Mexican food and piles of nursing school homework. Somehow, between bad enchiladas and late-night study breaks, we went from small talk to something real. Before long, life turned into a blur of laughter, the chaos of living with my smelly brother, and endless weeks of someone spending more time in a Peterbilt than at home. There were 100+ phone calls a week, caffeine-fueled study sessions, and a joint mission to find one edible restaurant in Sioux Falls. (We’re still searching.) Through the snow, the noise, and the truck stop coffee, we built something that stuck — something perfectly imperfect. Our love story isn’t fancy, but it’s ours: born from bad tacos, stubborn hearts, and a right swipe that actually worked, One swipe, one truck stop, and one laugh at a time.
