We met in middle school. Howard recently moved to Farmington Hills and we were in the same theater class. We were cast as boyfriend and girlfriend in our middle school play. Throughout theater and catechism class we become good friends. For Howard's 14th birthday, Kayla took it upon herself to ask for an invite to his party. We spent the entire party side by side and at the end of the night, we were officially boyfriend and girlfriend and so our love story begins.

The 2020 Christmas church service took place on December 23rd. Kayla attended church with her family and Howard's family. After the service, Kayla was completely shocked when she walked into Howard's house with all of their family and friends there waiting. Howard proposed to Kayla in front of the beautiful Christmas tree under an impressive balloon arch which he spent days researching and creating. Everyone toasted and cheered for us. It was the best way to end 2020!

When we were in high school we realized we did not have a "song". We decided to pick the song September by Earth, Wind, and Fire. We both enjoyed the song, it made us happy, but it really didn't have any significant meaning. The song lyrics mention two months, September and December, which now have sentimental meaning to us as we were engaged in December and will be married in September.
