Brian kept flirting with me while I was trying to work the front desk at the Fitness Evolution in Buffalo, MN as my summer job in college.... actually I totally had a crush on him and was super nervous every time he would talk to me. One day Brian tried flagging me down in the parking lot to ask me out.... I never witnessed it so who knows if this is a true story. Because this parking lot situation didn't workout, he decided to swoon me by adding me as a friend on facebook....
Finally after a few months and maybe a few trial runs of potentially going on a date, I asked if we could finally go out. He took 24 hours to respond to me and I was freaking out that I was getting ghosted. Luckily, he was waiting four months to ask me out!!! Our first date was at River Inn in Hanover. We had so much fun and I knew the rest was history. :)
Casual Friday night, Brian brought me on a double date. We were at Rancho Grande in Monticello and he bought me a few margaritas... luckily, because I was totally caught off guard when the server brought out a cake that said "Quieres see mi novia?"... you know what that means.. I'm stuck. Just kidding that was super adorable and I was honored to officially be labeled his "girlfriend".
We took our first trip long trip as a couple to Arizona. We have a special place in our hearts for the beautiful scenery and the extra sun while traveling in the winter. For a day trip, we hiked at Cathedral Rock in Sedona and Devils Bridge. Our first stop was Cathedral Rock. It was an amazing hike, one I had not done before - but it was not very long. All of a sudden we were at the top and I was extremely nervous... but also taking in the scenery. The drop-off of this hike is insane. Anyways Brian was exploring and I told him I was going to stay back because my cautious nerves kicked in. Maybe I shouldn't be telling this story but I got sooooo mad because I thought I had seen the last of him. He was no where to be found. I had sworn he fell off. I panicked and asked these nice ladies to borrow their phone to call him. Nope nothing. This story is kind of pointless because I obviously find him. He came back after having a life talk with a stranger while I was nearly in tears. Long story short, we love love this hike... but just thought I'd share my first experience there. :)
February 2022 we planned another trip to Arizona. We decided to split our time and stay extra in Sedona. We went with another couple to Sedona. We were brainstorming what hikes to do. We obviously both wanted to do Cathedral Rock again, but I wanted to do it as a morning hike due to timing of other things we had planned. Brian was refusing to go with my plan on doing it the next morning and he had no reason for wanting to do it this specific date other than, "I've been thinking about this hike ALL YEAR".... okay Brian... he got his way. When we reached the top it was amazing and I had the courage this time to go out to the edge and take a picture with Brian. We asked our friends to take one, but he was being SO particular about this picture I was getting irritated, I may or may not have said something rude right before he whipped something out of his pocket. I saw the ring...everything was a blur... he had some cute speech that I have zero recollection of... the only thing I remember was that he said something about how it was our anniversary...OHHH no wonder he was particular about doing this hike THAT DAY. I was SO EXCITED but SO SHOCKED. We called our families and everyone was ecstatic. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Alex on August 5th!
