Julia and Houston first crossed paths during their sophomore year at Virginia Tech, but it wasn’t until a New Year’s Eve party that they really hit it off. It took a few months and bringing them together in NOVA during the covid shutdown, but their first date was an adventure to Great Falls in the old Suburban (if you know, you know). By the time they returned to Blacksburg that fall they officially began dating. With online classes and plenty of time together, they dove into each other’s worlds—Houston introduced Julia to rock climbing and Julia taught Houston how to ice skate. After graduation, they put their relationship to the test: backpacking through Europe exploring eight countries. It was a whirlwind of trains, hostels, new foods, and unforgettable memories. When they returned home, Julia stayed in Blacksburg for her master’s program while Houston moved back home—beginning a year of long‑distance. Life consisted of Virginia Tech football game visits, weekend Airbnb escapes, and countless FaceTimes. Julia’s move back to Northern Virginia brought them back to the same place. She spent a year at home while making frequent trips to Arlington to see Houston, and before long, they found a home together in Dunn Loring, just minutes from the Langfords. They’ve loved their lifestyle near Mosaic—walking to the farmers market, exploring new spots, and continuing to learn more about each other every day. It was a cold day in February disguised as an early Valentine's Day celebration that Houston convinced Julia to take a "sunset walk" at a place that means so much to them, Great Falls. Surrounded by one of their favorite views, he got down on one knee and proposed. Now, they’re excited to start the next chapter surrounded by the people they love most!
