Wil & Ynna officially met when they were both asked to volunteer for their campus youth group in 2013. Wil had seen Ynna a couple years ago, thought she was pretty, and had a crush on her... until he found out she was dating someone else. Ynna was oblivious and just thought he was a really nice guy. As they continued to bond and grow with each other and their campus youth group, Wil continued to admire Ynna's sense of style and how genuine she was, while Ynna always appreciated how Wil's presence and humour could elevate the mood in any room.

Wil & Ynna met again during a mutual friend's event to serve the less fortunate for Easter. The two hadn't seen each other in a while, so when Ynna saw Wil walk into the room with a bright smile, she instantly felt happy at the thought of reuniting with an old friend. After some small talk, Wil found out that Ynna was freshly single. He was in disbelief so he asked her again, and again, and again. Meanwhile, Ynna thought he was deaf. Wil finally believed her, and he started texting her after they both got home that night.

After a couple months of trying to take things slow, God made it incredibly clear that he wanted both of them to be together. Imagine friends bailing on hangouts and leaving them alone together and accidentally running into each other in places they never did before. On a day they both resolved to take time for themselves, Ynna was on the Skytrain to go to work while Wil was running late for school. She had an odd feeling that Wil would show up, so she opened her eyes, and there he was... literally running onto the same exact Skytrain car with a huge smile on his face. To top things off, the Skytrain suddenly stopped and left them with even more time together. This was the day they decided to completely trust God with their relationship. Will soon asked Ynna to pray about being his girlfriend. A week later at their first date, Ynna said yes!

From the very first date, it was obvious to the couple that they wanted to marry each other. It sounds a little crazy, but they were both at stages in their lives where they wanted their next significant other to be their last. In 2018, Ynna moved to Portland to pursue her Doctorate of Chiropractic, while Wil stayed in BC to start saving up for their future together. On September 27th, 2020, Wil proposed to Ynna when they were alone together at Pitt Lake. The happy couple are extremely excited for Ynna to graduate and start the next chapter of their lives together in October!

WHAT'S THE BEST MEAL YOU'VE EATEN TOGETHER? Three-way tie between tapas and drinks at Ciudad Condal on our first night in Barcelona, paella at Casa Carmela in Valencia, and Osteria Savio Volpe in Vancouver. WHAT WAS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE DATE? Wil: When we went to get ice cream at Earnest's, walked around and chilled in a nearby park, and gave Ynna my hoodie (aka our unofficial first date). Ynna: When Wil picked me up with flowers, brought me to the Cathedral, had dinner, and got gelato while we walked around Coal Harbour at night (aka our official first date).
