In a Greek Orthodox wedding, the maid of honor is referred to as the Koumbara, who plays an important role within the church. Beyond assisting the bride and leading the bridal party, the Koumbara takes on significant responsibilities during the wedding ceremony itself. This role is deeply meaningful and traditionally represents a lifelong spiritual bond with the couple. Elliana holds this special honor as Alex’s only female cousin on her mother’s side of the family.
