For those who haven't visited the area it would be worth making the drive to see Lake Tahoe (weather permitting). It is about a 45 minute drive from downtown Reno to the Incline Village area, which is on the north shore of the lake.
Depending on the weather there might be a few ski resorts open for anyone who wants to try and get in some skiing or snowboarding. Mount Rose Ski Area is 30 minutes south of town and is likely the most affordable option. The Palisades at Squaw Valley is a 45 minute drive and offers a lot more terrain (depending on how much snow we have at the time) and a village full of fun places to eat, drink and shop.
The capital of Nevada, Carson City, is located 35 minutes south of downtown Reno. This is where we live and we love it. Carson City has awesome access to hiking/running trails and is just a short drive away from the east shore of Lake Tahoe. There are also a some cute restaurants, bars, and shops in downtown.
