It all started with a suggested “friend” request on Facebook. We’ve all have had hundreds or thousands of these “Pop up” friend requests but our first meeting was as simple as that, a “friend” suggestion. Thanks Mark Zuckerberg and your Facebook algorithms! Then after Terry and my, simple, first “hello” was exchanged. that opened the flood gates of our friendship leading to long phone calls, sharing all our backgrounds, learning about all we have in common, and talking easily about the tough topics of: religon, politics and all of our more “touchy” subjects. Over time we had laughed A LOT together and an amazing, forever bond had formed berween us. Terry and David look forward to spending the rest of their lives together....Laughing, loving, breeding and showing horses together and having many, exciting adventures together in their years to come!
David is from Liberty, MO just north of Kansas City. That is where he also began his journey with horses and in particular the American Saddlebred. Interestingly enough, and proving how our world truly sometimes can be a “small world”, it turned out Terry actually lived in Liberty for 3 years working on a horse farm but the two never crossed paths. They would visit the same resturants and bars but again never meeting until so many years later. Terry is from Lockwood, MO a small town 3 hours south of thr KC Area. These two horse boys have an impressive list of things in commom and complementary interests, hobbies and skills. Terry has an impressive Masters in Equine Reproduction and Reproductive Disorders from Texas A & M. He spent years doing stallion collections, embyro transfers and other breeding related activities. Terry is also a licensed nurse so caring for people and horses is his specialty. David has been in real estate since his early teen years in Kansas City and for the past 15 years has made his home in Oxford NC just north of Raleigh. He owns real estate brokerage company and horse farm, Ravenscroft which are both located in the Triangle Region of NC. Terry will be relocating to NC so they can be together at the farm. David himself has training in stallion collection and artifical insemination and continues to own his own breeding stallions. Together they plan to further build out the equine reproductive services at their soon to be shared Ravenscroft Show Horse Farm which already has a dynamic team in place. Lots of exciting things clearly are on the horizon for these two together.
It was hard for David to keep a secret from Terry but the proposal needed to be special, thoughtful and one worthy of Terry and their unique bond. So carefully watching weather reports for Hurricane Dorian progress, David modified the day around Mother Nature and pulled off the “big ask” Saturday, September 7th. Terry was visiting David at his NC farm, waking up early like they usually do together, David asked if Terry would walk with him and the dogs, retrieving the mail he forgot to grab from the mailbox the previous today. (Little white lie) Holding hands with the dogs following them, David said “its such a pretty morning, let’s keep walking and go by the pond”. The sky was beautifully blue with enormous, white clouds. It was still cool that morning despite the hot temps that would soon follow. Birds were flying around the large fields and they came to a very deliberate path cut into the 4’ tall grass in front of the pond. Leading down to a cleared area, white wicker furniture was in place, a dozen yellow and red roses were sitting in a vase pondside. We sat in the chairs and the dogs sat at our feet. Terry looked surprised but still didn’t appear to know what was next. David handed him a large, wrapped package with beautiful cloth paper and he opened it. Inside it was a scrap book titled: Our first chapters together... In the pages it had photos of their first trip together, pictures from dates they had, then a blank page titled: Saturday September 7, 2019. Terry asked what that was about and David handed him a greeting card envelope. Inside the card had a vintage photo of two men that were holding a sign that said “Let’s Get Married”. Terry looked stunned and David had gotten to one knee and held Terry’s hand and asked for his hand in marriage. Tears in both their eyes, Terry gave a happy yes and the two celebrated with mimosas, dogs still at their feet and holding hands looking at what would now be their pond at their farm together.
These two Missouri Boys will be tying the knot on Sunday, November 10th in Kansas City. They will celebrate with family and friends that weekend as they setup and prepare to show Mon, Nov 11 as classes begin for the American Royal National Championship Horse Show in the historic Kansas City River Bottoms. Interesting background for picking this location and date. Both Terry and David are from Missouri so it is our hope that this will make it easier for family and old friends to join us for our special day. They both have shown mulitple times in Hale Arena which now holds the American Royal Horse Show (how crazy is that!?!) Hale Arena was also the last horse show David’s Father, Ron Frazier attended and his horsey aunt Delores and uncle Bill Geisinger, now sadly all three have passed. In 2017 David won his first National Championship on Veterans Day making the win extra special since his Father was a proud Veteran amd that was the year he had passed. Terry and David have many happy memories in the Greater Kansas City Area and look forward to making many wonderful, new memories together there for their wedding.
