Missouri State Capitol
This beautiful state house is Missouri's third (completed in 1917), and the place of work for us both. You will find many works of art that fill the capitol's interior (including the well known Thomas Hart Benton murals in the House Lounge), the House and Senate chambers, the rotunda, and much more. Come see what brought both of us to Jefferson City and book a tour!
Runge Nature Center
Simply put, this is our favorite place to go for a walk. Explore the trails at the Runge Nature Center, take in the fresh air, and enjoy the wildlife.
Deborah Cooper Park on Adrian's Island
One of Jefferson City's latest additions to its many green spaces, come take a lap around Deborah Cooper Park and enjoy a close view of the Missouri River, the towering State Capitol, listen to trains come by, and even play a game of chess on the oversized Missouri Bicentennial Chessboard.
Missouri State Penitentiary
Known for its haunted cells of those who were put to death by gas chamber from 1938 to 1965, come take a tour of the now former Missouri State Penitentiary.
West Main Pizza
If you’re looking for pizza, come give West Main a try. It has been a key part of our lives in Jefferson City, and we always are recommending it to anyone who is new to town. We love it so much that we moved within walking distance of it!
Downtown Jefferson City
A rarity for small towns in the Midwest, Jefferson City’s downtown district is lively, full of shops, restaurants, and other businesses. Great for relaxing outside, grabbing a bite, or doing some light shopping. Looking for recommendations? You can’t go wrong with The Grand Café, Pizza Underground, Alibi Cookies, or our absolute favorite, Sawaddee Thai Cuisine.
Cathedral of St Joseph
Seat of the Diocese of Jefferson City, this cathedral underwent renovations over the last few years. Among the improvements include a restored copper roof, reconstructed bell towers, new stain glass windows, and a re-imaged alter and center crucifix. These renovations were completed in Spring 2023 and are absolutely stunning.
Last Flight Brewing Company
A newer addition to Jefferson City, Last Flight Brewing Company is a family friendly place to relax indoors or out, hang out with friends, and enjoy craft beer.
El Espolon
El Espolon is the best Mexican restaurant in Jefferson City we have tried so far. Enough said.
