It all started with Lauren Friedman, our matchmaker. Lauren, who grew up in Orlando with Evan, went to the University of Georgia freshman and sophomore year. After sophomore year, she transferred to the University of Florida. When I went to Gainesville to visit her, Evan was there, and we met. And I thought that was the end of that. Evan and I didn't talk for 5 months, and then out of the blue (or maybe with Lauren's encouragement?), he asked me on an AEPi date night. So my parents, praising the heavens that a Jewish accounting major liked me, so generously paid for my flight down to Gainesville to go on his date night. - Erin

I went to brunch with two of my good friends, Megan Levine and Julie Lavallee (which Evan had actually coordinated, unbeknownst to me). On the way back from brunch, completely clueless, I pulled into our driveway and saw a note on the door. As I got closer, I realized it wasn't a solicitation, but a picture of us with a poem on a sticky note. Opening the door, I saw rose petals scattered all over the floor, leading to more pictures and poems. Evan was waiting for me on our back porch (which we had conveniently strung with café lights two nights before). Afterward, both of our entire families and three of my best friends came walking up the driveway to celebrate with us. Evan is not one to pull off surprises or grand gestures, so I was beyond shocked. He'd managed to get both of our families in town (on a game day weekend, no less!), along with three of my best friends. It was perfect. - Erin
