How They Met

In the summer of 2016, both Adam and Alicia's churches were playing church softball. Adam quickly noticed Alicia at the games and, little did he know, she was checking him out behind her sun glasses. They not only saw each other at church softball games, but almost every time they were eating out on the weekends. The Jay County Fair came and Alicia was in the cattle barn helping her brother with his animals when Adam came walking in with his parents. Alicia went up to talk with his mother who happened to be standing by Adam. They made small talk. All Alicia remembers is Adam's smile. Adam was thinking man that girl is pretty. Fast-forward three months, October 3, 2016 , Adam messaged Alicia on Linkedin because that was the only way he had to contact her. They exchanged numbers and started texting. Their first date was El Camino on October 27 2016, the night before Adam left for a Florida family vacation, because he could not wait until he got back to 'meet' her. They enjoyed a wonderful evening of sharing stories about their lives, similarities, and wondering how their paths had not crossed more often. The second date came in early November. They went out to supper again. He came to pick her up at her house. Adam was worried about Alicia's dad, but he was the easy one. Adam was greeted at the door by Alicia's two brothers and their guns. Adam was very calm and cool. He laughed it off and thought it was very clever. After getting out of the house they enjoyed a wonderful evening. The next time they met up, Adam and Alicia had planned on going to the parade of lights and out to eat with Alicia's family. The parade ended up getting cancelled so they went out to eat and back to Alicia's house to play games with her brother Seth. That night was conformation that this was more than just friends. That night was the start of the rest their lives.

Their Dating Story

One day, while driving home from Berne, Alicia could not get Adam off her mind. It was on that journey down highway 27 that she realized he was the one. The love of her life. Adam first realized he was falling in love with Alicia after spending an evening eating with her family, and playing games at her house. He'd never been around such a fun loving, happy family, and couldn't stop seeing her smile all night long. Alicia quickly realized that Adam can be a real stinker, and she as well. This realization came when Alicia came to meet Adam's parents. Adam never once told his parents about her until she showed up at their house. They were shocked, but couldn't have been more excited to see her walk in. Alicia already knew his parents, but has loved getting to know them more, and they are as happy as well. She enjoyed helping Adam and his dad put the lights on the Christmas tree. It was under this beautiful Christmas tree that they had their first kiss. Adam can't narrow down a favorite memory, but was thrilled on the first date when they were kindly asked to leave El Camino because it had closed 15 minutes ago. That was a good indicator that their relationship was a success from the get go. The first time saying "I love you" is questionable. Although the two differ on when the words were first spoken, that feeling has always remained true.

The Engagment

Adam and Alicia love sitting on the porch of their big blue shouse and enjoying a warm fire. Friday, September 29th, Adam was persistent in asking Alicia early in the day if she wanted to have a fire that night. After playing hooky from work and golfing in Muncie with his dad, Adam brought El Camino home for supper, to find that Alicia had prepared a fire on the porch. After finishing supper, they were reclining and enjoying conversation in their chairs by the fire. Alicia was sharing with Adam her conversation with her boss about getting engaged, and how slow Adam was being. Alicia mentioned something about not being engaged, Adam cleverly said ''Well, we can change that''. With a confused look on Alicia's face, Adam got down on his knee and asked Alicia to marry him. He asked her to grow old with him, and spend many more evenings on that porch together. Alicia said YES! It was the perfect proposal. What started as a normal Friday night, in their favorite place, favorite comfy blanket, and favorite people, turned into a life changing memory.
