Our story begins in one of the most unexpected chapters of our lives, the 2020 pandemic. While the world slowed down, fate was quietly working behind the scenes. I was originally supposed to be on a cruise in the Netherlands, but when it was canceled, a new path opened, one that would lead me straight to Alex. Looking back now, we always say that if that cruise had happened, we might have missed each other entirely. Instead, we connected on Facebook Dating, and from the very first message, something just clicked. Before we ever met in person, we spent countless hours talking on the phone and FaceTiming, getting to know each other in a way that felt natural, comforting, and incredibly easy. Alex later told me after we were engaged that he knew I was “the one” while sitting in his kitchen in his little apartment in California City. Somehow, even over a screen, our connection felt real enough to fill that room. Our first date was simple but perfect. Alex drove to my new rental home in Ridgecrest for breakfast (homemade blueberry bread) and coffee. He showed up not only with a smile but with a thoughtful housewarming gift: beach-themed décor for my beach-themed bathroom. It was sweet, unexpected, and so perfectly him. From that morning on, our story only grew. I introduced him to hiking, and together we’ve explored trails, chased sunsets, and created memories in places we might never have found on our own. With every adventure, big or small, we’ve built a life rooted in laughter, thoughtfulness, and an unmistakable sense that we were meant to find each other, even in the most unpredictable of times. And now, we can’t wait to begin our next adventure, marriage, side by side.
