Kelly: After we matched online, I made the first move by commenting on his fun fact about himself on his profile: "I own every Ace of Base album." We quickly connected over our love for music. John: When I saw her message, I clicked on her profile and simply thought: "There she is." Kelly: I remember feeling like I've known John my whole life after our first phone call and I told him that we were soulmates on our first Facetime date (before even meeting in-person). John: I already knew.

Kelly: I was going to be joining John at the end of one of his work events at the beautiful Terranea Resort in Palos Verdas, CA, which was the same hotel/event that he was at in 2021 when we first chatted. We planned to spend the weekend of our 2 year anniversary out in different parts of So Cal, so I was highly suggesting going to Stone Brewing in Escondido as it's my happy place. I was trying to really "plant the seeds" for him. John: Every time she described Stone Brewing to me I thought, "Thats it! That's where I'm going to propose," completely unaware of Kelly intentionally telling me every detail for this very reason. While I was at Terranea earlier in the week I would hike the coast each morning and decided to ditch the plan at Stone, take advantage of the breath-taking views and propose on a hike with her the morning after she got in. This also worked out better because my company hooked us up with room service and a spa day, and that would've been hard to suggest that it was "just because." :) Kelly: It was absolutely perfect and I was very surprised! We had a romantic day at the resort spa followed by a brewery tour at Stone, and a weekend of enjoying our engagement alone and with some of John's friends.
