We met in high school, but it was not love at first sight. Maybe love at first laugh? During freshmen gym class, we were playing hockey on the freshly rained blacktop and I fell into a puddle. I look up to see some random boy laughing at me, little did I know I would marry that kid 14 years later. We did not talk until sophomore english class where we started to become cordial with each other. As high school continued, we had a few classes every semester together and slowly became better friends. Junior year of high school, my best friend Carli and I started forcing Seth to become actual friends with us outside of class. It was not until Freshmen year of college when Seth moved away for college did we realize we were more than just best friends. Over the next four years we struggled with the challenges of a long distance relationship, until I moved to Berkeley to finally live together. We spent the next 3 1/2 years living in the Bay Area together, navigating new jobs, new cities and meeting some amazing new friends. We eventually made the move up to Washington to be closer to family and for a fresh start.
We lived on Whidbey Island for 1 magical year. That time on the island completely transformed and healed us as individuals and a couple so it only made sense Seth chose one of our favorite spots on the island to propose. We went on a sunrise hike at Ebeys Landing, which was not unheard of because it is a very popular spot and with our dog Remi we try to avoid large crowds. As we get to Ebeys Landing I remember freaking out because for the first time I was able to see Mount Rainer. I was not wanting to start the hike because I was so mesmerized, but Seth really seemed anxious to getting going. Little did I know he had bigger plans for our day. Half-way through our hike, he proposed. And then told me that the parents knew it was happening and were waiting at home for us to celebrate.
