Our Story

2023-2025

Our story started with a meet-cute involving sidewalk chalk, Super Mario Bros, and a pair of based glow-in-the-dark shoes. What followed was a summer filled with fun, adventure, and God-centered conversations. An epic friendship started, and seeds for something much deeper were planted. Over the next year—through road trips, concerts, roller coasters, and Snapchats—our relationship continued to grow until Hope was certain Noah was going to ask her out. But… he didn’t. A couple of months passed by, and summer camp 2024 was only a couple of weeks away. Hope was certain Noah would make a move before it started. For his birthday, Hope wrote a heartfelt letter describing how much their friendship meant to her and how blessed she felt to have Noah in her life (aka dropping some massive hints), but the weeks slipped by and Noah still had not asked her out. July 4th week came around quickly, and we had plans to take a beach trip down to Wilmington with some friends from camp. However, a few people got sick, and Hope ended up stuck in Clayton (Noah’s hometown) for the week without a car. What resulted was a wild week of the two of us going on “totally-not-a-date-one-on-one-platonic-hangouts” (we now refer to these days as “date zero”). Noah was committed to waiting until the end of the summer before asking her out—something about camp rules 🙄. The final week of camp came soon enough, and late one Wednesday, a mutual friend, Nathan Ricks, asked Noah about his plan for the end of the summer. He told Noah that he had inside knowledge of Hope’s feelings for him and encouraged Noah to make a move that Saturday after the campers left. Saturday morning came around, and whispers of “Noap” were already spreading. Noah told Hope that he’d like to talk to her alone later that day. She gave him a knowing smile and said she’d like that. That night, Cole Singleton hosted a campfire and staff sleepover. That evening, Hope ventured into the backyard to roll in the grass and promptly fell three feet off the raised patio, collapsing into a heap of pain and laughter. Noah lovingly ran to help her up, and as he did, Hope told him this would be a great time to have that conversation. They both sat down, and Noah began to speak. He told her how much her friendship meant to him—how, through her kindness and good nature, he had already learned so much from her about what it meant to love like Christ. He told her that he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life getting to know her better. Hope took his hand, told him how wonderful their friendship had been, and that she had grown to love him beyond simple friendship. Over the next hour, Hope and Noah recounted all the times they had admired each other and wanted to share their honest feelings from the past year—all the hints and subtle gestures they had made toward each other. Over the next nine months, we dated. Hope survived a hurricane, and Noah moved to Western North Carolina (ten minutes from Hope). In that time we grew through hardship, multiple moves, and continuous adventures. Until one adventure on May 31st led Hope on a sunrise hike to discover a beautiful view with cows, hills, and a nervous, excited, and a little winded Noah—with a smile on his face and a small box in one hand. That morning, standing between cow pies in a field of yellow flowers, Noah asked Hope to be his wife, and she said, “Yes, absolutely I do.” Since then, God has continued to bless, teach, challenge, and prepare us for marriage. We truly thank Him for His never ending faithfulness, grace, and guiding providence in our lives. Thank you for reading our story! We can’t wait to see you on October 5th, 2025!! 💛 — Hope & Noah
