Flight

Milan Airports

We know most of you will be flying to Italy. We love you for doing that for us! There are two major airports near Milan that you can choose to fly into: Malpensa (MXP) or Linate (LIN). We recommend looking at both airports when searching flights. Malpensa is the closest airport to Lake Como. It is located outside of the city and is the easiest option to reach the town of Bellagio. Linate is a smaller airport located within Milan, but is also well connected to Lake Como. Linate is a good choice for guests wanting to explore Milan prior to traveling onwards towards Lake Como. Both airports are within 45min-1 hour drive to Bellagio.

Train

Rail Europe

Please note, there are no direct trains from the airport to Lake Como (Bellagio). Instead, a car transfer directly from the airport to your hotel is the preferred method of transportation. You may also take a train from Milan to the City of Como, followed by a taxi to your destination. Alternatively, once in Como, you may take the hydrofoil boat service (the landing stage is 330 feet from the train station, journey time 40 minutes) which is much faster to Bellagio.

How to get to Lake Como by Private transfer!

There are several transfer companies that can accommodate private and efficient transfers from the airport and back and take you directly to your hotel. Lake Como Ferry Routes

The ferries can accommodate cars as well as people. Just purchase a roundtrip ticket and hop on for a great ride amongst the waves to arrive in active Varenna, beautiful Bellagio, quiet Menaggio or other beautiful towns along the lake. Every town has its own personality and charm to discover.

Renting a car in Italy can be fun but challenging. You may need an International Driver's License obtained at AAA with a picture good for one year. If you are afraid of motorcycles passing, steep hills & tight roads near Lake Como, then driving may not be for you! Rent a smaller car for navigating around tour buses, windy small town streets, and parking in tight spaces. RESERVE YOUR CAR EARLY beause Europe has a limited supply of automatic cars!** Also, be sure to ask about the type of gas-regular or diesel and remember the GPS option or your cell Map app, you will need it!
