NoDa is a great neighborhood to visit if you want to suck up to the bride and groom (we live here, so we are biased, but it’s our favorite!) It is small but mighty, with plenty of spots to eat and drink; if you’re visiting on a weekend, you’ll probably get lucky and run into some local artists selling their work on North Davidson St or 36th St! Eat: Haberdish, The Goodyear House, Cabo Fish Taco, Jack Browns, Jack Beagles, Salud Cerveceria, Local Loaf, Ever Andalo, Sunflour Baking Co., Zambie’s Pizza, Brook’s Sandwich House Drink: The Chamber by Wooden Robot, The Ugly Bar, Idlewild, Noda Company Store, Salud, McHale’s, Divine Barrel Brewing, Great Wagon Road Distillery
A close second for our favorite neighborhood in Charlotte! If you’re looking for us on a Friday or Saturday, you can usually find us on the Workman’s patio with a Guinness or espresso martini :) Eat: Calle Sol, Supperland (reservations recommended), Intermezzo, Yafo Kitchen, Midwood Smokehouse, Common Market, Milkbread Drink: Workman’s Friend, Thomas Street Tavern, Burial Beer Co., Legion Brewing, Bohemian Wine Bar, Two Buck Saloon
For those of you staying in the hotel block, you’ll be in the neighborhood we call “Uptown” (there is no downtown - don’t ask us why though!). You’ll find all our sports stadiums in this neighborhood, as well as plenty of bank HQs and other office buildings. Eat: Angeline’s, Amelie’s, Cowbell Burger and Whiskey Bar, Alexander Michael’s, Fin and Fino, Duckworths (+ The Cellar at Duckworths), La Belle Helene, Halal Food Cart (great late night) Drink: Latta Arcade (lots of small bars in a historic alley), Connolly’s, RiRa’s, The Public House, The Daily, Caroline’s Oyster Bar, Sophia’s Lounge
South End is a great neighborhood to explore while you’re in town. It is easily accessible via the light rail (hop on the southbound line from any stop in Uptown). Go for a stroll along the light rail trail and pop into any of the bars, restaurants, and breweries the area has to offer! Eat: North Italia, Leroy Fox, Superica, Emmy Squared, Seoul Food Meat Co., Yamazaru, Hawkers, Common Market South End, Yunta Drink: Sycamore Brewing, Monday Night Brewing, Wooden Robot Brewery, Hoppin’, Dram and Draught, Craft Tasting Room, Vinyl, Tyber Creek Pub
The whitewater center is a great option for the adventurous crowd! Grab a day pass to take advantage of all the activities they have to offer (whitewater rafting, kayaking / SUP paddle boarding, rock climbing, and more!)
-Optimist Hall: A food hall with 15+ stalls as well as several other food / drink options and shops scattered throughout the area. Great for large (and indecisive) groups! - Camp North End: Repurposed car factory / military depot with food stalls, public art, and shops. Also, where we got engaged! For the pickleballers out there, we recommend renting a court at the Tipsy Pickle. - Mint Museum: Contemporary art museum showcasing rotating international art exhibitions - NASCAR Hall of Fame: We recommend doing the racing simulator and pit crew challenge! - Funny Bus: BYOB open air bus tour of CLT led by a local comedian tour guide - Freedom Park: Beautiful park in the heart of Dilworth! - Latta Nature Preserve: Great walking trails along Mountain Island Lake
