The Wedding Website of Aled Owen and Hope Leonard
NEW HOUSE COUNTRY HOTEL Thornhill Rd, Cardiff CF14 9UA There is ample parking at the wedding venue, so you are more than welcome to drive. Those of you who are travelling from overseas might benefit from renting a car during your stay, especially if you wish to visit some of Wales' beautiful landscape before and/or after the wedding day. Alternatively, public transport recommendations can be found below. For ideas on where else to travel in Wales during your stay, visit the EXPLORE WALES tab above.

Flight

Cardiff Airport

Cardiff Airport is a mere 35 minutes' drive from the venue, but only caters to flights from a short list of airports. If you're not travelling via Ireland, Netherlands, France or Spain, maybe a better option for you would be...

Flight

Bristol Airport

Just a 70-minute drive from the wedding venue, Bristol Airport caters to flights from a longer list of airports than Cardiff does. If you find a route that flies into Bristol, that might be a good option. That said, Hope's personal preferred route is to fly into London Heathrow.

Flight

London Heathrow

London's Heathrow Airport may be 2.5 hours away from the wedding venue but it caters to flights from all over the world, and is a simple drive along the M4 motorway. If you don't feel like driving, you could always take public transport.

Shuttle

National Express

July 19, 2026 12:00 pm

The National Express coach picks up passengers from both London Gatwick and London Heathrow airports and takes them directly to Cardiff's Sophia Gardens for just £16 each way. The venue is a 20-minute Uber from there. The National Express service runs every hour, so it is available no matter what time your flight gets in. Round-trip tickets are also available. This cheap and easy way to get to Cardiff takes a bit longer, but is comfortable and has plenty of space for your luggage in the compartment underneath.

Train

Trains from Heathrow Airport

The Heathrow Express train connects the airport to Paddington Station, from there, you can catch a Great Western Rail service directly to Cardiff Central. Alternatively, you can cut out Paddington, and Uber from the airport to the train's Reading stop, cutting out the hop in and out of London itself. If you need any help planning or booking your public transport, please get in touch with Aled and he will be more than happy to find a suitable route.

Train

Cardiff Central Station

At Cardiff's Central Train Station, you can catch a connection to Lisvane & Thornhill Station, which only takes 50 minutes, but personally we recommend just getting a 25-minute taxi / Uber from Cardiff Central instead, so that you are brought directly to the New House Country Hotel.

Hotel

The Parkgate Hotel, Cardiff City Centre

Westgate Street, Cardiff, Wales CF10 1DA, United Kingdom

The Parkgate Hotel is Cardiff’s finest luxury hotel within touching distance of Principality Stadium in the city centre. Where classic-meets-contemporary luxury. No two rooms are quite the same, each styled around its own unique features in-keeping with the hotel’s historic architecture. Even if you do not stay at this beautiful hotel, you can make a dinner reservation at the Sorting Room. This place is also perfect for a beautifully curated afternoon tea. However, if you were planning on driving to Cardiff, please not that this hotel does not have onsite parking. Guests are recommended to park in Sophia Gardens parking lot down the street.

Hotel

AirBnB

If you are travelling in a group or would prefer a more "homey" feel, we would recommend looking at booking an AirBnB. Many AirBnBs allow for parking passes or even have private parking in the city. Aled and Hope have stayed in multiple AirBnBs in Cardiff over the last 5 years and have not been dissatisfied yet!

This Hotel is conveniently located close to the train station and main shopping area of Cardiff. It is also one of very few hotels that offer parking in the city centre.
