We have to shout out Jarrett's dad for this, Walter Fisher. Shelby and Walt worked together at Carilion TSG when Walt asked Shelby to be friends with his son because he needed more friends and just spent his time working (LOTS of overtime) and occasionally playing video games with friends. Walt set up a family dinner at Macado's and planned for Shelby to crash it and now the rest is history!
The first time we hung out, Jarrett came to Shelby's apartment to join her and her friends carving pumpkins! Jarrett carved bats and Shelby carved the Ghostbusters logo!
Shelby and Jarrett spent a lot of time together over the years including holidays and vacations with family, many back road drives full of star gazing and sightseeing because we weren't ready to go our separate ways, fishing and camping trips with family, trips to the tank museum where Shelby got to hold a flame thrower, Cruise Ins, searching for the Northern Lights (and finding them!), zoo trips, home renovations, and rook nights with friends.
Mallory and Taylor Feuquay's wedding took Shelby and Jarrett from Roanoke, VA to Danville, Indiana. This roadtrip was a jaunt down memory lane, letting Shelby show Jarrett where she went to college (Concord University), where she went to high school (Winfield, WV), and where she grew up in Indiana (Danville, IN). On the way home, in addition to checking liquor stores in Cincinnati and Kentucky for rare drop bourbons (we had zero luck), we stopped by the New River Gorge Bridge! We try to make it to the bridge every Bridge Day and while Shelby was taking a video of the view from the top overlook, Jarrett got down on one knee. We took our photos and were lucky enough to get a passing couple (from Virginia Tech, ironically) to take a photo for us!
