Great tidepooling spot, a dog-friendly beach, and the closest you can get on shore to the location of the famous big-wave Mavericks surf break. The harbor area nearby has some really nice restaurants, bars and a brewery.

Some favorite shops include: Crow's Nest (women's apparel), Home Town (modern Home goods), Abode (home goods), Jupiter & Main (home goods and men's apparel), Feed & Fuel (to see the baby animals), Tokenz (for eclectic gifts inspired by the owners travels, incense, tarot cards).
Old town with lots of charm. Famous restaurant Duarte’s is known for its Artichoke Soup. Stroll down the main drag and visit the small shops and markets. Go to Harley Farms to see the goats and grab some delicious goat cheese.

Pie Ranch is a great roadside stop for snacks and produce -- their claim to fame is that they grow everything on the ranch that you might need to make a pie! The ranch is working its way through wildfire recovery while making the most of their slice of California.
A lovely hike out to the dunes and the elephant seals! You may need to take a docent tour -- and there is a little museum/station/shop and have a gander at the exhibits on the wild lives of sea behemoths
Not *the* Methuselah tree (famous for being possibly the oldest tree alive, that one's a bristlecone pine in SoCal) but *a* Methuselah tree, ours is an absolutely gigantic coast redwood nearly 2,000 years of age. It's visible from the parking area, so it's not a long walk, but anyone looking for more walk will find plenty of trails in nearby Corte Madera and Purisima preserves.
Visit the local surf shop, where the world-famous Maverick's Surf Competition originated! You can shop the beachwear, or rent a wetsuit; surfboard and test out your own skills on Surfer's Beach nearby!

The harbor also provides a calm and semi-protected place to rent paddle boards. Seals are often seen in this area!
