MaKayla Crumedy arrived at the University of West Alabama in Fall 2018, just as Terrell Malone — the SGA President — was preparing to graduate. They’d catch glimpses of each other in the CAF but were too shy to speak. Everything changed during finals week. While MaKayla stood in line for Chick-fil-A, Terrell walked in. She quietly asked an upperclassman about him — unaware that one of Terrell’s friends overheard and ran back to tell him, “That girl you’ve been eyeing said she wants to graduate with you.” Intrigued, Terrell sent word back: “Tell her to add me on Snapchat.” They messaged for a while, but life got busy and the spark paused… until fate stepped in again during a spring 2019 campus event. Terrell was a judge. MaKayla was a participant. From that moment on, their connection never stopped growing. In December 2022, they graduated together — MaKayla with her bachelor’s from UWA, and Terrell with his master’s from Alabama A&M. Since then, they’ve lived in two states, traveled the world, and welcomed their XL Bully, Thanos, into their family. And now, they’re planning forever — with a love that all started at UWA.
