Hunter and Steph’s story began in the summer of 2022 at Tarleton State University’s Duck Camp, where they were both part of a group called the 86ers. What started as just two students on the same path quickly turned into something much more. Their first real conversation happened on a walk to the zipline, where they talked about their lives, their families, and their dreams—so focused on each other that they nearly walked straight into a ravine. That moment set the tone for their relationship: natural, easy, and full of laughter. They hit it off right away, even jokingly telling each other that they loved to read—a detail they’d laugh about years later when realizing it wasn’t exactly true. From there, they stayed connected through late-night FaceTime calls and constant texting, learning more about each other day by day. After two months of growing closer, they finally had their first date at a Texas Rangers game, a day that made it clear that what they shared was something special. Just a couple of days after moving into their Legacy dorms at Tarleton, they made it official on August 15, 2022. What began as two Tarleton students crossing paths at camp became the start of a love story built on connection, humor, and adventure. Now, that same spark that started at Duck Camp continues to grow as they look forward to building a lifetime together.
