They met in middle school, but if you ask Nathan it wasn't until high school. They talked to each other for years, always flirting and joking around. Nathan finally made a move while Paige was at the state speech competition. He came to her house on a Sunday with yellow roses and asked to take her to junior prom. And the rest was history.
Nathan had just scored student rush tickets to the Penguins game against the Chicago Blackhawks. They had stopped to eat dinner beforehand at Burgertory. Paige should have known something was going on when Nathan let her order a milkshake before dinner. When they arrived at PPG Paints Arena, the atmosphere was electric. They had never sat on the opposite side of the arena. Paige was too fascinated with the amazing memorabilia to notice that Nathan was getting nervous. They went down to the ice to take their traditional Penguin game picture. Paige had given her phone to an attendant to take their picture. After a few shots, the attendant tried to hand the phone back and Nathan said, "Can you take just one more?" He turned to Paige and pulled out the ring, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him.
