Victoria and Nathan met during their freshman year at UC Berkeley. They had both enrolled in Anthropology 3AC, a class to fulfill one of their prerequisites. They knew of each other through Greek life and had mutual friends, but they had never spent much time together. On the first day of the spring semester, Victoria caught Nathan's eye as he was skating down Bancroft to campus. He stopped to say hello and asked where she was coming from. She told him she was coming from Anthro 3AC..."wait a minute...I think I was supposed to be in that class." Nate had a hard time keeping track of his schedule and making it to classes, but once he found out Tori was there, he never missed a lecture.
Victoria and Nathan have a shared love of traveling and spending time outdoors. They had discussed planning a trip to Iceland for a some time, but kept putting it off. As their relationship continued to blossom, Nate started thinking about how to craft the perfect proposal. One morning he woke up and saw Tori sleeping next to him. Emotion rushed over him as he knew he couldn't wait any longer. He needed to plan the trip that would lead to their engagement. He woke Tori up to tell her that they were going to Iceland. They booked the trip that same day. Come September, Nate and Tori were off to Iceland, with high hopes of seeing the Northern Lights. They hopped in their camper van and started their journey around the island. After the first couple nights obsessively tracking the Northern Lights, they proved too elusive. On the third night, Nate woke up to his hourly alarm at 11pm to see that the conditions for seeing the lights were strongest about an hour away. He quickly changed into the pants that were hiding the engagement ring and woke Tori up to tell her that they needed to drive for an hour to get better viewing. They eventually pulled up to a spot seemingly in the middle of nowhere, pulled out the camping chairs, bundled up, and sat outside waiting. The silence and pristine natural setting were peaceful. FINALLY, faint whisps started appearing over the mountains. Those faint whisps started to dance displaying green and red lights, and the young couple was overwhelmed by the raw majesty before them. Nate got down on one knee, delivered his heartfelt speech, and asked, "Victoria, will you marry me?"
