McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Gateway Trailhead
A beautiful place to experience the Sonoran Desert and mountains. Gateway Trailhead is a great starting point for a walk or hike. Bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes. It's best to hike in the morning, when the weather is cooler.
Desert Botanical Garden
A nice way to enjoy the landscape without doing a full hike. The garden features cacti, native plants, walking paths, and beautiful Sonoran Desert scenery.
Old Town Scottsdale
A walkable area with restaurants, bars, galleries, and boutiques. While you're there, we recommend the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Scottsdale's Museum of the West.
Musical Instrument Museum (MIM)
Fascinating museum which displays thousands of historical and celebrity instruments from all around the world.
Scottsdale Quarter
Open-air shopping center with nice restaurants, stores, and outdoor seating. We also suggest visiting Kierland Commons, a similar open-air mall across the street.
Taliesin West
Learn about the history and architecture behind Frank Lloyd Wright’s intriguing desert home and studio, in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains. Advance reservations are recommended.
Arizona Boardwalk
A family-friendly area with multiple attractions in one location, including OdySea Aquarium, Butterfly Wonderland, restaurants, and shops.
