It all began at the good ole starbucks. What started with ordering a caramel frappuccino eventually became a productive working friendship and finally a blossoming loving relationship.
For a long time, “just friends” is all we were and neither of us saw it any differently. We could talk about work and school and relate in our shared faith. But when you watch Friends long enough with someone, feelings are BOUND to develop.
Uh oh. We knew we liked each other but we still worked together. What were we going to do!? Well, what we managed to keep secret from our coworkers for 6 months (!!), revealed a precious loving relationship built to last.
Fast forward a couple months; our friendship had grown deeper with one another than it ever had. We were able to share our lives intimately, and we realized we could depend on each other in our times of need. However, while we could both see God had certainly blessed many parts of our relationship, it would take stepping back and reevaluating whether or not He was truly at the center of our lives to know if it was a dating relationship meant for marriage. But after a long three months, it was clear God wanted us to be partners for life. Coming back together meant we were both 100%. We loved God and we loved each other and the best way to express that was... to get engaged!!
It had been raining in San Diego for a week straight, but I (Michael) wasn't going to let that stop me. After copious amounts of prayer for sunshine, and with the help of one of Holly's best friends and her sister, I was able to go down on one knee and ask Holly to be my wife on the cliffs of the Torrey Pine's Glider Port. With the sun streaking through the clouds, we posed for pictures and sprayed a bottle of champagne to help commemorate such a wonderful day. That night however, we really took it up a notch as we were able to celebrate with all our friends and family at dinner (much to Holly's surprise). We both thanked God for such a miraculous day, and again for Starbucks and ordering caramel frappuccinos. If engaged life is this much of a party, we can't WAIT to see what marriage looks like!
