Gabe and I met at a CSA retreat in the fall of 2018; although he thought my name was Olivia, he chose me to be on his ultimate frisbee team so he could talk to me. I could tell that he liked me, but I thought he was a freshman so I didn't pay it any mind. After the retreat, we hung out with mutual friends for a period of time, and during that time we got to know one another better. We went on a couple of dates and even though it took me some time to say yes to officially dating, he continued to pursue me and it was clear that there was something between us. So on April 28th, 2019, it was official. Fast forward a couple of years, we decided to go hiking at one of our favorite places: Little Rock. It was just a random weekend in November...or so I thought. On the last day of the trip, November 14th, we went to mass and had planned to go hiking right after. We needed to change and Gabe insisted we change at the visitor center. I was skeptical but went with it anyway. When we arrived at the park, Gabe suggested we take a picture in our nice clothes before changing, which I thought was a great idea since we don't do that very often. As we walked up this pathway towards the overlook of the lake, Gabe had set up the perfect scene for a proposal. There were roses strewn all around and a box in the center with a lock on it which opened with a key he gave me over 2 years ago that I carried around not knowing what it was for until this day. After reading a letter from him, Gabe got down on one knee and proposed. Of course, I said yes, and to celebrate we found a spot with a mountain view and opened the bottle of Dom Pérignon from the box, calling our families to break the news. In yet another surprise, that evening Gabe organized for both of our families to join us at dinner, which hours before I hadn't known they were in Little Rock the whole time! Needless to say, it has been an adventure and our new one will begin on January 28th, 2023.

Yo conocí a Holly durante mi tercer año de la universidad en un retiro spiritual. No tarde mucho para darme cuenta que ella era algo especial. Por los primeros meses ella rechazó muchos de mis intentos para llevarla a una cita. Era evidente que ella no estaba interesada, pero mi mama siempre me llamaba “terco” y no iba a dejar de ser exactamente eso en esta situación. Meses y meses de perseguirla y por fin la canse y decidió darme una oportunidad. Creo que hice un buen trabajo durante nuestras primer citas porque su personalidad cambio completamente. Ahora, para pedirle que se casara conmigo, use una llave que le había dado 2 años antes. Originalmente planeaba usar la llave para un regalo de navidad, pero cuando ella adivino mi plan, tuve que abandonar la idea por el momento. Con tiempo la idea de usar la llave para algo mucho más grande vino, y el plan fue puesto en acción meses y meses después. El plan era perfecto de inicio a final. La lleve a uno de los lugares más bonitos que hemos visitado en un parque en Little Rock. Lo hice un domingo después de ir a la iglesia para que estuviéramos vestidos bien. Le dije que antes de cambiarnos en el centro de visitantes, deberíamos tomar una foto en este frente sobre el lago, un frente que había sido decorado con rosas y una caja de madera cerrada en el centro con la ayuda de su propia familia. Una letra en la caja y una botella de Dóm Pérignon para celebrar. Después dimos una excursión por la montaña y llamamos a nuestras familias para contarle las noticias, aunque ellas ya estaban informadas y además, ya estaban en Little Rock alistándose para darle una sorpresa a Holly durante la cena que planee para los dos. Una cena que según ella solo seria para nosotros dos, termino siendo su oportunidad para celebrar con nuestras familias como ella siempre a querido. Finalmente, llegamos a este momento, felices para empezar la siguiente parte de nuestra vidas juntos y listos para celebrarlo con todos ustedes.
