Hollis and Reed's story is a classic one - "The servant winning the heart of the princess," as he would tell it. After 14 months of flirtation, frustration and friendship with one another, he finally realizes that it's time to go after the elusive prize, incorrectly deemed 'out of reach' during individual moments of weaker heart and mind. On October 21st, 2016, Reed first saw Hollis while she was MC'ing a National Student Leadership event, in Washington DC. After asking, "Who is that?" of the young Australian friend sitting next to him, what Reed heard felt like an auspicious foreshadowing of good fortune: "Oh that's Hollis. She's a Cubs fahn! You gotta meet-huh." "Why yes, I do..." And he did - It was weeks later that the two were brought face to face outside of the immaculate home to the International Foundation's meeting grounds and private event mansion. Hollis was seated on a bench working through some thoughts in a notebook, minding her own business, when Reed (working as a landscaper, among other things, that day) couldn't believe his luck. He approached the well-dressed star of the non-profit's previous weekend wearing stained Vans, cut-off khaki shorts, an old Chicago Cubs tee shirt and a freshly topped-off backpack leaf blower used to clear the main drive (Yeah... a true Cinderella Story). But with fate on his side, Reed uttered his first words to the woman he is now preparing to marry, almost exactly three years later: "Mornin! I'm Reed -- I hear I need to meet you..." She returned a smile, shook his hand, and without knowing it, introduced herself to the luckiest man in the world. Thank you for all you have done and will do, to shape our lives. Anyone and anything that has delivered us to this point, we consider to be the work of the Lord. And although there is never enough time to spend together, please know that we love you. We can't wait to see you in October. - Reed & Hollis
