While taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are around the area, their availability can be limited, particularly in the evenings or when visiting more remote areas. If you're coming from an airport and/or plan to hike or explore the Hudson Valley during your stay, we highly recommend renting a car.

Train options from NYC
For guests traveling by train from New York City, there are several convenient options available. 1. Metro-North Railroad (Hudson Line) Departure from Grand Central Terminal Metro-North offers service along the Hudson Line to Poughkeepsie Station, which is the closest major stop to New Paltz. The ride takes about 1 hour 30 minutes. From Poughkeepsie Station, you can take a taxi, Uber, or Lyft for a short 20-minute ride to your hotel. 2. Amtrak Departure from Penn Station Amtrak offers service to the Rhinecliff-Kingston Station, located about 25 minutes from New Paltz. The trip typically takes around 2 hours. From Rhinecliff, you can take a taxi, Uber, or Lyft to your hotel.
