Eric and Hollis grew up about an hour away, and probably wouldn’t have crossed paths under a normal highschool trajectory. They met when they were 17 when they both enrolled in Capital Area School for the Arts, in the music class of about 14 people. If you’ve ever seen the movie FAME, it was kind of like that, but less New York and more central PA. (See a page from our yearbook below) It was a nice little refuge where weirdos could feel cool, safe from harassment. Except for Eric who insists he was teased regularly by Hollis. Regardless, they were friends. Hollis even taught Eric how to drive stick shift after school one day on city island. They remained in the same social circle until both moved out of the area and went their separate ways. Fast forward almost 20 years later, Hollis is back in the area on a travel nursing contract. They reconnect through social media. Their first date was the new Bloomfield fireman’s carnival, complete with funnel cake and 25 cent bingo. It was perfect. When Hollis saw her dad later that weekend she said “I’m pretty sure I finally met my match”, and they’ve been together ever since. Making up for lost time, they kicked things into high gear. Got engaged, bought a house, embarked on major home renovations, and had baby Wynonna in rapid succession. Now that the dust has settled (literally and figuratively), please help us celebrate our commitment to each other and our family.
